Ritualized annual battle between the Berlin neighbourhoods and Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain (2011)
In 2001 the Berlin neighborhoods of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain were merged in a single administrative district. Well, you could as well try to unite Britain and France. To vent their rather diffuse animosities, once a year Oberbaumbrücke becomes the stage of a ritualized battle employing an arsenal of highly creative weaponry. Whoever pushes the other party back to their side of the bridge wins. To ensure a fair outcome, Berlin police takes the role of the referee and declares the winner.
